GiTS: SAC is basically a study of what experts call parasociality: the belief that we have a connection to some random goober showcased by the media. Could be an artist, a writer, a professor, a terrorist. Whatever. People believe that, because we see some part of a media personality’s life on our screen, that we share in that life, that we’re a part of it, and that they owe us something.
It’s not true. It’s stalker behaviour that has been normalized. Don’t fall for it, or you’ll end up much worse off than you were before. Whether it’s your favourite pop-star or blogger, you mean nothing to them and they should in your turn mean nothing to you.
